HBIS Chairman Met TKSE CEO Bernhald Osburg

October 17, HBIS Chairman Yu Yong met Thyssenkrupp Steel (TKSE) CEO Bernhald Osburg in Shanghai and they agreed to strengthen cooperation in low carbon development and build a communication scheme to find more cooperation opportunities. HBIS Vice President Li Yiren, TKSE Senior Vice President Simon Stephan also attend the meeting.

Yu Yong introduced HBIS material oriented reforms, green and low carbon reform and overseas development of HBIS and said that in high quality development phase of Chinese economy, its development model and connotation both had shifted to the market oriented function materials. China is the world’s largest steel consumer and its advanced manufacturing industry demand is huge. HBIS and TKSE both own their advantages and resources and have the potential to work closely. In future, the two groups could strengthen their communications and find opportunities in deep processing, green and low carbon development.

Mr.Osburg also presented the current development of TKSE and its plans for future. He said the EU carbon taxes and new demands to materials from client were bringing challenges to the industry and TKSE had been reviewing its development strategies and extending its green and low carbon efforts and TKSE needed partners. The success of HBIS hydrogen steel project, its high performance automobile strip JV with POSCO and with Green Low Carbon Supply Chain partnership with BMW are becoming great examples that TKSE could learn from. He hopes that the two companies could build a constant communication mechanism to explore more opportunities in different area to find more cooperaton value.
